Qualification summary

The Level 1 Award in Introduction to Employment in Child Care (RQF) will allow you to demonstrate a range of skills and knowledge related to the Child Care sector to increase your chances of finding a job. These roles could include:

  • child care assistant
  • early years educator

It will also help you build self-confidence and self-esteem and give you a better understanding of the child care sector as a whole. This qualification is made up of 100% vocational units that include:

  • working in early years settings
  • health and safety
  • communicating with children
  • understanding play for early learning

This qualification does not require you to have any prior qualifications or levels of previous learning. There is no minimum age requirement for this qualification.

This qualification is ideally suited to learners who are undertaking the work placement element of a Traineeship. Find out more about Traineeships here.

This qualification will also provide you with a foundation to enable progression onto the Intermediate Apprenticeship for the Children and Young People’s Workforce.

All 5 credits from Group M must be achieved, plus a minimum of 2 credits from Group O.
