Paper-based Practice Assessment Materials
Skillsfirst’s practice assessment materials should only be used when preparing learners for their live assessments, they can be accessed by selecting the links below. The SLC practice assessment provided must not be used for live assessments. Please contact Skillsfirst for the SLC assessment tasks to be used for live assessments.
The reformed Functional Skills qualifications for English Levels 1 and 2 were available for first teaching from 1st September 2019.
To achieve the Skillsfirst Level 1 Functional Skills Qualification in English, learners must successfully pass all three of the following mandatory units:
- One externally set and marked assessment in Level 1 Functional Skills Qualification in English: Reading; onscreen or paper-based exam
- One externally set and marked assessment in Level 1 Functional Skills Qualification in English: Writing; onscreen or paper-based exam
- One internally or externally set, and internally marked, assessment in Level 1 Functional Skills Qualification in English: Speaking, Listening and Communicating (SLC)
- Reading Level 1 mark scheme and setting matrix
- Reading Level 1 question and answer paper
- Reading Level 1 source booklet
- Writing Level 1 mark scheme and setting matrix
- Writing Level 1 question and answer paper
